LTL Transformers Tanzania is a subsidiary of the LTL Group of Companies, an internationally
recognised engineering and power solutions provider founded in 1980 in Sri Lanka. With
operations spanning Asia, the Middle East, and Africa, LTL Group brings decades of proven
transformer expertise and a strong track record of quality, reliability, and innovation to every

Our Legacy
Since its establishment in 1980, LTL Transformers has grown into a global leader in power
transformation. The company expanded into Asia and the Middle East during the 1990s and
went on to achieve ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 (formerly OHSAS 18001) certifications in the
2000s. By the 2010s, LTL had delivered over 15,000 transformers worldwide, reflecting its
commitment to engineering excellence and customer trust. In the 2020s, the company
introduced energy-efficient transformer designs using amorphous core
technology—demonstrating its drive for sustainable innovation. Today, LTL Transformers
Tanzania plays a key role in advancing national electrification efforts across East Africa.

LTL Transformers Tanzania is a wholly owned subsidiary of LTL Transformers (Pvt) Ltd, a
trusted leader in the global power industry with over four decades of experience. Established in
1980 through a joint venture between the Ceylon Electricity Board and Bonar Long of Scotland,
LTL Transformers has evolved into a market leader in Sri Lanka and a respected exporter,
supplying high-quality transformers to over 25 countries across more than 20 regions. The
company’s enduring reputation is founded on deep engineering expertise, a commitment to
technological innovation, and a legacy of delivering reliable and efficient power solutions
worldwide
Certifications & Standards
LTL Transformers operates under the highest international and regional quality standards to
ensure every product meets rigorous safety and performance requirements. The company’s
designs adhere to IEC 60076 transformer standards and comply with the latest Tanzanian
manufacturing regulations, including S21:2024 and TZ 284 specifications set by the Tanzania
Bureau of Standards. LTL is also an approved supplier for TANESCO and holds full certification
from the Tanzania Bureau of Standards (TBS), underscoring its dedication to excellence,
compliance, and trust in every market it serves.
